A leading Swiss IT services company,
ELCA has helped its clients successfully leverage
information technology innovations for more than
30 years. ELCA currently has a workforce of more
than 300 highly skilled engineers. Headquartered
in Lausanne, ELCA has subsidiaries in Zurich,
Geneva, Bern, Paris, London and Ho Chi Minh City.

A major international organization tasked ELCA
to provide search access to its multinational
database through a number of different vehicles.
As the search engine in all of these applications,
ELCA chose the dtSearch Text Retrieval Engine.
"We choose dtSearch because of its versatility,
speed, reliability and its ease of use,"
explained a Manager of ELCA. "We liked dtSearch's
ability to build indexes incrementally, and to
search on multiple indexes for documents spread
in many directories."

The
dtSearch configuration we chose gave users
the ability to search in parallel on the offline
DVD data and on new material from the Internet.

First, the organization asked ELCA to post
its data on the Internet. The organization's operating
system of choice for this vehicle was Linux. Second,
the international organization asked ELCA to write
an application allowing the organization to automatically
master DVDs containing its data. "Using a
fully functional version of dtSearch as the search
engine on the DVDs, ELCA was able to provide end-users
the ability to search the data on DVD without
requiring installation on the workstation. The
dtSearch configuration we chose gave users the
ability to search in parallel on the offline DVD
data and on new material from the Internet."
Bridging the gap between business and IT, ELCA
believes that new technologies will create real
value for companies who consider these opportunities
as strategic. ELCA proposes original solutions
and services on a European basis. Ranging from
consulting to software development and product
integration, ELCA delivers value by combining
technology and design.
