dtSearch Case Study — DocuLex

DocuLex Embeds dtSearch in Archive Studio for Complete Content Management Solution

“We initially looked at dtSearch because it could read our custom PDF fields.”

Archive Studio provides easy information access to people working on projects in-house or remotely. The Web browser-based, information-imparting content management software facilitates the capture of paper and electronic documents, OCR enabled and indexed for organization either in their native formats or PDF. Permission-based access is assigned to user’s colleagues to add input, or to just view information an organization needs them to see. Any added content is monitored to track documentation revisions throughout the project's life.

Utilizing SharePortal™ technology, a permission-based portal is provided for users to access information to securely share content and collaborate with third party individuals or organizations without the need for administering user logins. The portal can be utilized for sharing all file types, even large or zipped files with outside vendors, customers and business associates without email firewalls, ftp and faxing. Automated expirations settings provide a self-management effort of eliminating temporary access to invitations, files and folders.

“PDF display has been fantastic, including online.”

For searching within Archive Studio, DocuLex chose to embed the dtSearch Text Retrieval Engine.  “We initially looked at dtSearch because it could read our custom PDF fields,” said David Bailey, President, DocuLex. “Our staff was then astounded by how quickly dtSearch indexed — and then searched. And PDF display has been fantastic, including online.”

“With the embedded dtSearch, DocuLex has achieved an ideal ‘back-end’ electronic document search, retrieval, printing and emailing solution for document capture programs,” explained Tim Nissen, Marketing Director of DocuLex. “The application is a very useful addition to DocuLex’s scanning/capture, PDF file conversion and direct export product lineup.“

“We could not be more pleased to work with DocuLex,” said Kate Tretter, Vice President of Marketing of dtSearch Corp. “Their imaging expertise is a welcome complement to our text search and retrieval, providing an excellent benefit to end-users with too much paper and too many electronic files.”

Florida-based DocuLex creates non-proprietary content management software for use with desktop and production document scanners, as well as digital multifunctional copiers, facsimile and wide format units. Through an extensive international reseller channel, the company offers network-enabled document capture and image processing software along with browser-based document and content management, collaboration, email archiving, journaling and compliance, knowledge management, workflow and records retention programs, bundled and offered as Archive Studio.  Archive Studio is easy to use, productive electronic document management software for any business environment seeking secure instant document access.
